Velvet Rose Protocol

Velvet Rose Protocol is a professional straightening and replenishment treatment specially designed for Afro-textured hair, including thick, coarse, curly, and tightly coiled textures. The protocol combines Velvet Rose with Carbon Replenishment to help smooth and transform resistant hair while replenishing essential carbon and active ingredients within the hair fiber. Together, the treatments help improve manageability, softness, shine, strength, and elasticity while reducing frizz and creating a sleek, polished finish.

  • Consultation & Assessment

Assess the overall health of the hair and scalp. Inquire about the client's hair history, including:

    • Last service date and type (e.g., color, bleach, perms, relaxers, smoothing treatments).
    • Hair condition (virgin, healthy, over-processed, over-porous).
    • Scalp condition (free of irritation, redness, or damage).
  • Cleanse the Hair

Cleanse the hair thoroughly with the Carbon Shampoo to remove residual products, oils, and impurities.

    • Massage until foamy and rinse thoroughly.
    • Repeat if necessary for thick or curly hair with heavy buildup

Gently towel dry the hair until it is damp but not dripping wet.

    • Divide the hair into four even sections, starting from the base of the head and working your way to the top. This ensures even application of the treatment.
  • Apply Velvet Rose

    • Shake Well: Always shake the bottle of Brazilian Keratin Treatment before dispensing.
    • Measure Solution: Pour 7g-14g for short hair, 15g-22g for medium hair, or 22g-28g for long hair into a color bowl.
    • Application: Working in thin sections, use an applicator brush to lightly dust the solution on each section, applying the treatment 0.5 cm from the scalp to the ends.
    • Distribute Evenly: Use a comb to ensure the treatment is evenly distributed throughout each section.
  • Processing

    • Cover the hair with a disposable plastic cap or plastic wrap (do not use foil).
    • Allow the keratin treatment to process for 50-90 minutes, based on hair type
    • This processing time lets the keratin penetrate and bond with the hair.
    • For the process to go quicker you may place under a color processor or hooded dryer.
    • Once the time is up, wash off the product from the hair and towel dry.
  • Blow Drying

Dry the hair completely using only your hands and a hairdryer.

    • Avoid using a round brush—your hands are sufficient. If the hair feels heavy or sticky, rinse again, leaving no product
    • Keep the hairdryer away from direct contact with the scalp.
    • The curls should stretch easily with your hands while drying.
    • Ensure the hair is 100% dry before moving to the next step.
  • Flat Iron

    • Use a professional flat iron with a temperature range up to 230°C.
    • Ensure the iron plates are smooth and clean, free of buildup or damage.
    • Work with clean, thin sections for the best results. Thicker sections may not straighten as effectively.
    • Iron from roots to mid-lengths 5-9 times (depending on hair type) before making a final pass to the ends.
    • Continue ironing from base to ends until each section is glossy and soft.
    • Apply consistent pressure throughout each pass.
  • Apply the Hair Mask

For optimal hair health, apply the Carbon Hair Mask to the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the scalp.

    • Use a wide-tooth comb to distribute the mask evenly. Cover with a plastic cap and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to deeply condition the hair.
    • Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water..
  • Styling

    • Apply the Carbon Leave In, on towel-dried hair, starting at the bottom and working your way up.
    • Finish by applying the Daily Care Styling Spray to the hair.
    • Blow-Dry: Blow-dry your hair with a round brush for optimal results.
